SAPD: Man fired shots that killed himself, wounded wife

Couple found inside home in 3600 block of Ivory Creek

SAN ANTONIO – A man who was found dead inside his North Side home Friday morning fired the shots that killed him and left his wife critically wounded, San Antonio police said.

Officers at the scene were not able to say who called 911 around 7:30 a.m. from the home in the 3600 block of Ivory Creek.

"They came inside and found a male and female in their 40s. Both had been shot." San Antonio police Sgt. Justin Good said.

Early on, investigators determined that no one else was involved in the shooting. Police later revealed that the man was the one who fired the shots, wounding both himself and his wife in the head.  He died at the scene. His wife was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

As detectives went in and out of the home collecting evidence, neighbors gathered on their doorsteps to watch it all.

One neighbor said the woman who was shot has two children who also live with her. It appeared they were not home at the time.

Several other people who live nearby said the couple had been married for about a year and seemed happy.

Investigators are trying to determine what went wrong.
