SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday it will be firing Deputy Ricardo Gonzales after he was indicted on charges that he assaulted an inmate.
The Sheriff's Office said Gonzales was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury for assault causing bodily injury, civil rights violations and official oppression.

He was arrest Tuesday night without incident, the Sheriff's Office said.
Since 2004, Gonzales had been assigned to the detention division at the Bexar County Jail, where he allegedly hurt an inmate.
"Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigated the allegations and conducted the investigation that moved the case to a Grand Jury. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office will not tolerate this sort of behavior," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The offenses are Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to one year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine.
