SAN ANTONIO – Willie Nelson shared his views on the 2016 presidential campaign and the controversy around it.
Since last week, when footage of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump using what he would later describe as “locker room talk” was released, there has been a firestorm of controversy.
And there has been no shortage of criticism from GOP and Democratic leaders, as well as celebrities.
“When you have a mic on, you know you have a mic on,” country music icon Willie Nelson said. “Even on a bus, he knew he was wired. It’s just bad judgement, that’s all.”
When asked if it was concerning that a person exercising bad judgement was running for president of the U.S., Nelson said, “Well, sure it does.”
Nelson would not say whether he would endorse either Trump or his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.
“She’s fine, a great gal,” he said. “That’s why I’m not in politics. I don’t want to get into that. That’s not what I do.”
