Yearlong aviation, aerospace project kicks off at Rhodes Middle School

Students will be able to visit NASA, airport

SAN ANTONIO – It was an exciting morning for students at Rhodes Middle School on Tuesday as they kicked off a year’s worth of aviation and aerospace learning opportunities.

San Antonio’s Airlife helicopter and the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary’s Civil Air Patrol helped them get started. After making their big entrance, students got to hear from pilots. Some of the students even got to experience flight simulators.

The school is partnering with the Dee Howard Foundation to enhance the lessons students learn and increase their knowledge of career opportunities in the field.

As part of the yearlong project, students will be able to take field trips to NASA and the airport. The students will also get to hear from guest speakers.
