SAN ANTONIO – With nearly 10,000 San Antonio residents without power due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey, CPS Energy is asking drivers in the Alamo City to watch for their crews as they work to restore power across the city.
They said earlier Saturday, two CPS Energy crews had close calls when drivers “came in contact with CPS Energy vehicles.”

“We are asking the community to please slow down and be aware of our work zones,” said Rudy Garza, senior Vice President of Distribution Services. “Our crews are committed to getting power back on to everyone affected – they take great pride in what they do, and what they train for, and power restoration is their main focus right now.”
CPS Energy would like to remind drivers to be aware of crews working on city streets as visibility becomes a challenge. They ask residents to:
- Pease slow down near work zones
- Be aware of construction signage and local laws
- Avoid distractions
- Remember safety is everyone’s responsibility!
As Greater San Antonio braces for continued impact from Hurricane Harvey, CPS Energy crews are actively battling high winds, heavy rain and dangerous road conditions to meet the expectations of our customers and community. Work is expected to continue non-stop for the next several days.
