The new building will be in the 2200 of North Alamo Street.

The area housed an amusement park and it’s also the site of the Acequia Madre. It’s a site where many colonists first gathered.

Dr. Bruce Leslie, chancellor at Alamo Colleges, said the site will now hold a building where all district support operations employees can work at one location, and the public will be able to enjoy a park area as well.

“We said to the neighbors we really want to make sure it's accessible to people in the evenings and weekends. There will be a sort of theater area outside. People can gather. We're going to preserve the pecan trees,” Leslie said.

Leslie said crews have identified where the Acequia runs underground in hopes of bringing sites of running water above ground.
