According to the ABC affiliate in Dallas, WFAA, Mathews left his daughter in a backyard alley around 3 a.m. as a form of punishment for not drinking milk and when he returned 15 minutes later, the girl was gone.

Mathews told police he saw coyotes in the alley where he left his daughter.

The Richardson Police Department said the alert was discontinued because it did not have any leads in the investigation. The girl has not yet been found.

Police said they are still working with the FBI, Department of Public Safety, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and other agencies to investigate forensic evidence, laptops and surveillance footage from neighboring homes.

The Richardson Police Department said she suffers from developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills.
