Associate - A person who does work for or with the Texas Mexican Mafia but is not a member.

Blood in, blood out - People often gain membership by killing someone. The only way out of the gang is to die.
Close the books - Term used when the group is no longer accepting new members. It can be a time of "house cleaning," when they remove (usually kill) members or associates who have fallen out of line or violated the constitution.

The dime - A street tax of 10-percent of the profits from people engaging in selling drugs, prostituting their bodies or any other crimes for the gang. People who don't pay the tax have been threatened, robbed, assaulted or killed.
Eme - Spanish for the letter "M." It is the thirteenth letter of the alphabet and can be illustrated with the number 13.
Esquina - Associate.
Estampa - A symbol of the Texas Mexican Mafia, often an eagle and serpent on a cactus. They have also been known to use cross daggers with the eagle and serpent. Some members use a Quetzalcoatl -- a double-headed serpent in the form of an "M."
Machicas - People of Mexico.
Merecido - Deserved one.
Nahua - Aztec language.
Palabra - Members will be asked to prove their palabra - their word - by performing an act to demonstrate their loyalty to the gang.
RICO - Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations. On October 15, 1970, the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970 became law. Title IX of the Act is the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Statute (18 U.S.C. §§ 1961-1968), commonly referred to as the "RICO" statute. Sponsor - Member responsible for recruiting new members. They are also responsible for disciplining new members who are found in violation of the gang's rules.
