Police searching for clues about person who shot into East Side home, wounding man

Victim, 59, expected to survive

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for clues about the person who fired into an East Side home, wounding a man as he prepared to go to bed.

Officers at the scene in the 500 block of G Street said it appeared the shooter was in a pickup.

That person sprayed the home with gunfire shortly after 4 a.m. Monday, striking the 59-year-old victim who was in a front room.

He was hit in the arm and belly, and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers said his wounds were not life-threatening.

They also said there were about seven other people inside the home at the time, including a baby.

No one else was hit by the gunfire.

However, bullets did strike a car in the driveway, shattering the back window.

Police said they were not sure whether the victim was the intended target of the shooting, or why the shooter took aim at that particular home.
