SAN ANTONIO – Three pets were killed in a fire at a Northwest Side duplex on Monday, according to San Antonio firefighters.

The fire was called in just after noon in the 1800 block of Fresno, not far from West Avenue.

A passerby reported the flames since no one was at home at the time of the fire, firefighters said. However, three dogs inside the duplex were later found dead.

Firefighters said that the second unit inside the building was not damaged by fire, smoke or water.

The cause of the fire is not currently known, but it started in what is believed to be a bedroom in the back of the home.
