SAN ANTONIO – Texas State is getting a major makeover when it comes to the university’s athletic facilities.
The university issued a release on Monday that details renovations and upgrades to Bobcat Stadium, Strahan Arena and the baseball and softball fields.
Two new HD video boards are currently being installed on both sides of the End Zone Complex at Bobcat Stadium.
The video boards are 36 by 61 feet, and are scheduled to be ready by the Bobcats season home opener against Texas Southern on Sept. 8.
The current video boards at Bobcat Stadium will move to the baseball and softball facilities.
Both facilities will also feature new field turf that is scheduled to be installed in the coming months.
Both home dugouts are being renovated and expanded, and new walls will wrap the perimeter of each field. The upgrades are scheduled to be completed in mid-September.
The largest renovation project underway at the San Marcos campus is at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center.
The center is undergoing a multi-million dollar upgrade. A new basketball court and center court video board are being added to the arena.
The video board is four-sided and will hang from the rafters inside the arena over mid-court.
The university announced the video board is already operational, while the playing surface will be installed prior to the Texas State volleyball home opener against UTSA on Aug. 30.
An official grand opening for all UEC projects is scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 6.
