County music legend Willie Nelson is making his way around Texas next year and he has not one, but two performances in San Antonio.

The event was originally postponed to May but Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials decided it was best to cancel altogether. Austin and Fort Worth have canceled their rodeos in 2021. Despite a plea from Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff to postpone the 2021 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, citing COVID-19 concerns, rodeo officials said Tuesday the show will go on. HOUSTON – A few thousand people have signed an online petition calling for the cancellation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo amid the coronavirus outbreak. Dubbed as the largest rodeo in the world, Houston Rodeo attracts millions of people to NRG Park. However, attendance is down compared to previous years, according to the Houston Rodeo data. Despite rising concerns of the coronavirus, Houston Rodeo and local officials said there are no such plans to cancel the festival at this time. “We are continuing to monitor the situation and collaborate daily with Harris County and City of Houston officials, and the Houston Health Department.”

HOUSTON – From 250 participants emerged one winner during a World Championship Bar-B-Que contest at the 2020 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on Saturday. After three days of competition, the biggest prize went to Fayette County Go Texan, which was named Grand Champion Overall. The Reserve Grand Champion Overall was Operation BBQ Relief. The majority of the lineup for this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was released Thursday and it includes big names in country and pop. The rodeo will run from March 3-22, just weeks after the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, which runs Feb. 6-23. Here in the Alamo City, Cody Johnson, Midland, Chris Young and Brad Paisley will also play for the San Antonio rodeo.
