On Sunday, South San High School students expressed what Texas Independence Day means to them during a ceremony at the Alamo.

North East Independent School District students visited a unique outdoor museum at Bradley Middle School on Texas Independence Day and experienced Texas history through hands-on learning.

Wednesday marked Texas Independence Day, and while there have been generations of stories told of the people who fought at the Alamo, the impact of Tejanos during and before the battle has largely been unknown.

A series of armadillo races are set to take place over the next few months in New Braunfels.

SAN ANTONIO – Trent Rosser and his wife, Sharon, said they are grateful for the coincidence of being in San Antonio on Texas Independence Day. “Grateful, I’m grateful,” Trent Rosser said about getting to see the new collection. “It just brings back emotion,” Trent Rosser said. It’s cool.”The exhibit is free to view Tuesday in honor of Texas Independence Day and will run through April 25.

SAN ANTONIO – For Alamo fans who’ve been waiting for this moment all their lives, officials have finally showcased a preview of the “Phil Collins Collection.”The Alamo displayed a preview of the collection, filled with artifacts donated by musician and Alamo enthusiast Phil Collins, starting on Texas Independence Day on Tuesday. The temporary exhibit, which includes a brass cannon used by the Mexican Army during the battle, will be on display until April 25. “The public has been very interested in seeing the Collins Collection. Artifacts have been added to the Phil Collins Collection over the years, Alamo officials said in the release. Visitors can see the preview exhibit in the Alamo Exhibit Hall for free on Tuesday in honor of Texas Independence Day.
