The College World Series again will have a strong Southeastern Conference flavor after Auburn became the fourth SEC team to make the NCAA baseball tournament's final eight. The Tigers knocked off No. 3 national seed Oregon State 4-3 on the road Monday night to win their best-of-three super regional and lock up the last spot in the CWS. No. 2 Stanford also won the deciding game in its home super regional, beating UConn 10-5 to earn a second straight trip to the CWS.

Weslaco East fights past Mercedes

They were cleared to return to action against Mercedes and didn’t skip a beat as Weslaco East earned a 52-45 road win over the Tigers. It’s a district game, that got them fired up a little bit,” Weslaco East head coach Esequiel Rodriguez said. DETROIT – Tigers general manager Al Avila said Friday that Detroit is not ruling out the possibility of hiring A.J. Hinch or Alex Cora for its manager vacancy. Hinch and Cora were suspended through the 2020 postseason for their roles in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal. The Astros fired Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow on Jan. 13 and Cora lost his job managing the Boston Red Sox the following day.. Orgeron: Most LSU players have had, recovered from COVID-19

Most of LSU's football players have contracted and recovered from COVID-19, coach Ed Orgeron said Tuesday, leaving the coaching staff hopeful those players will remain eligible to play the bulk of the season before they have to be tested again. “I think, not all of our players, but most of our players have caught it,” Orgeron said during a video conference, adding later that he did not know the percentage of the roster that had tested positive. “So we look at the players that have caught it and say, ‘OK these guys should be eligible,’" Orgeron continued. So we’re looking at our roster in that manner.”Orgeron did not go into detail about whether any LSU players who tested positive have experienced symptoms. LSU officials have declined to make public precise counts or even percentages of players who have tested positive for antibodies or the disease itself.
