SAN ANTONIO – [11:55 a.m. UPDATE]

KSAT 12 meteorologist Justin Horne says the storms that had been affecting San Antonio now currently points east. The storms will continue to push east, with the potential for a few more strong cells from Gonzales to Hallettsville.

Meanwhile, cold air will funnel into South Texas today, with falling temperatures. Many areas will fall into the 40s by this afternoon. Winds will remain gusty and skies mostly cloudy. A few showers remain possible through the day, before everything clears out tonight. Temperatures will fall into the mid 30s by tomorrow.

[9:30 a.m. UPDATE]

Colder weather has arrived to South Texas after a potent front moved through this morning. Temperatures will slowly fall through the day, into the 40s for most areas.  Mid 30s are on tap for tonight.

Strong to severe storms will still be possible, mainly east of a Seguin/Karnes City line, through midday. A Tornado Watch is effect for DeWitt and Lavaca Counties until 4pm.

Meanwhile, showers are possible area-wide, as an upper level moves across the area. Temperatures may briefly get cold enough for a few snowflakes to mix in across the extreme western and northern reaches of the Hill Country this evening. No accumulation is expected. Look for all activity to gradually decrease by this tonight. 

Gusty winds will also be an issue across the area today. A Wind Advisory has been posted for the western parts of the viewing area, including Del Rio and Eagle Pass. Sustained northwesterly winds of 25-30 mph are possible with gusts to 40 mph.  

For those traveling today, ice and snow-covered roads are being reported across much of West Texas.

Travel is discouraged from Midland to Abilene to Amarillo. The Dallas/Ft. Worth area was reporting airport delays after severe storms brought damage and flooding to the Metroplex.

Tuesday will bring sunny skies and highs near 50.   

[3 a.m. UPDATE]

The front has passed though Uvalde. The temperature at the Garner Field dropped 15 degrees in about 30 minutes. No new watches or warnings have been issued for the area. A thin line of rain with gusty winds should make it to San Antonio close to 4:30 a.m.

[1:40 a.m. UPDATE]

The southern portion of the storm line, south of Highway 90, has weakened and shown signs of continued weakening. As of now there are no warnings in effect. Meanwhile in the Panhandle blizzard conditions continue wreak havoc on the area. Interstate 40 west of Amarillo is closed. 

[12:15 a.m. UPDATE]

A new severe thunderstorm warning has been issues for Val Verde, Edwards and Kinney Counties until 1 a.m. Locations included in this warning: Del Rio, Laughlin Air Force Base and Carta Valley.

[11:30 p.m. UPDATE]

The NWS has issued another severe thunderstorm warning for Val Verde County until 12:15 a.m. Sunday. The primary threat is damaging winds and quarter-size hail. Areas in the path of this storm include, Comstock, Juno, Seminole Canyon State Park and Devils River State Natural Area.

[11 p.m. UPDATE]

The severe thunderstorm warning for Val Verde County has been allowed to expire. A line of storms are now entering the viewing area, impacting Val Verde County and moving to the northeast at 30 m.p.h. The primary threat from these storms will be high winds and damaging hail. 

[9 p.m. UPDATE]

The NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Texas Hill Country, counties include; Bandera, Edwards, Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Uvalde, and Val Verde. The watch goes until 4 a.m. Sunday. 

[7 p.m. UPDATE]

The weather in south Texas remains calm tonight, however in North Texas it is a much different story. According to ABC News a "large and extremely dangerous" tornado was reported near Glenn Heights, TX, south of Dallas, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters called the situation "life-threatening" and said that mobile homes "will be destroyed." They also predicted "considerable damage to homes" and "complete destruction is possible."

A tweet by the Ellis County Emergency Management discussed the damage in the area, "We have destroyed and damaged homes, please do not get out on the roads."

Portions of North Texas remain under a tornado warning until 7:30 p.m.

[5 p.m. UPDATE]

A powerful storm system is moving across Texas, KSAT Meteorologist Katie Vossler says it is the most powerful storm system to hit Texas this season.

Currently, blizzard warnings are in effect for the Texas Panhandle; while a tornado watch has been issued for portions of north central Texas. Several tornado warnings have been issued already.

Right now in San Antonio the muggy weather is only producing passing showers, but there is a high possibility that a line of severe storms will move across the viewing area late Saturday into Sunday morning with the passage of a strong cold front. Temperatures behind the front will drop into the 40s throughout much of South Texas.
