SAN ANTONIO – Black Friday deals have become more competitive over the years, with retailers offering staggering discounts to shoppers, some more than others.

WalletHub surveyed 10,000 deals from the 35 biggest retailers in the U.S. offering Black Friday deals.

Sales ads were scanned for products in categories like appliances, jewelry and toys.

The following stores offered the biggest percentage discounts on average:

  • Kohl’s - 66.32 percent
  • JCPenney - 66.3 percent
  • Belk - 62.74 percent
  • Stage - 60.82 percent
  • Shopko - 55.93 percent
  • Bealls Florida - 52.78 percent
  • Sears - 50.09 percent
  • Macy’s 45.58 percent
  • Fred Meyer - 43.88 percent
  • AAFES - 37.25 percent
  • The average discount from major retailers on Black Friday is 37 percent, WalletHub determined.

    Consumers should try to aim for that savings amount or higher to avoid Black Friday traps.

    The retailer with the lowest score based on WalletHub’s findings was Bass Pro Shops, which averaged a 20.83 percent discount.
