SAN ANTONIO – Two members of the Dixie Chicks are making their San Antonio debut Friday night as the Court Yard Hounds to play a benefit concert..
Martie Maguire and Emily Robison have been making music together since they were children.
But their collaboration as the Court Yard Hounds is different. For one, it's a duet -- their first ever attempt at one.
"I have always been found of sibling harmonies. There really is something biological about that buzz you get when siblings harmonize. So that is unique," said Maguire.
The two are performing at the Empire Theatre on Friday night. The proceeds from the concert go towards the John M. Foster Service Scholarship at the St. Luke's Episcopal School in San Antonio.
Singer Radney Foster, the son of the scholarship's namesake, performed last year.
"It meant the world to me that they decided to do this concert and help fund it," said Foster.
The undertone of the music they plan on performing rings with promise for a child in crisis who otherwise couldn't attend the school.
"I think it's a responsibility of people who do what we do to always give back," said Maguire.
For Emily, it's a moment in her hometown's spotlight.
"I think I will know every single person there just because of the connections," said Robison. "Everybody knows everybody in San Antonio."
Some tickets were still available Friday afternoon.
