Air Force instructor convicted for relationship with trainees

Staff Sgt. John Gerbick, Jr., 14th to face court-martial

An Air Force military training instructor was convicted and sentenced Thursday for having unprofessional relationships with two technical training students at Lackland Air Force Base.

A press release from JBSA-Lackland said Staff Sergeant John W. Gerbick, Jr., was also found guilty of committing adultery and making a false statement.

Colonel Donald R. Eller, Jr., handed down the sentence: 45 days confinement, 30 days restriction to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland and 30 days hard labor without confinement. The punishment will run concurrently.

Gerbick's rank was reduced to E-3 (Airman First Class). He must also forfeit $600 pay.

Gerbick is the fourteenth completed court-martial in the investigation of military training instructors.
