Sisters accused of stabbing brother, his wife with screwdriver

Stabbing happened after Fourth of July family barbeque

SAN ANTONIO – A Fourth of July family get together ended in violence as two women stabbed their brother and his wife with a screw driver at an East Side bus stop.

The victims were attacked at the bus stop at New World and Montgomery after they left a family barbeque.

Bexar County sheriff's deputies said the husband, who was in a wheelchair, had some kind of dispute with his sisters at the barbeque.

He left with his wife and their young son and were confronted by his sisters at the bus stop.

The man tried to protect his wife and was stabbed in the neck with the screwdriver by one of his sisters.

The women then continued beating their brother's wife and stabbed her as well.

"The sisters of the husband decided they did not like the wife, so they attacked the wife. The husband and wife left to the bus stop to get a ride out of the area. Subsequently the sisters left and came here to the bus stop and attacked the wife," said Sgt. Frank Bellino with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

Both sisters were arrested a short time later and face charges. The couple's son was not injured in the attack, sheriff's deputies said.
