Memorial HS teacher charged with sexual assault of child

Instructor arrested following resignation

A Memorial High School teacher has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a child.

The science teacher, Marcus Revilla, resigned Wednesday.

According to the arrest affidavit, Revilla and the student had a relationship dating back to September 2013.

The victim was 15 at the time. She is now 16 years old and 4.5 months pregnant.

Roland Martinez, Edgewood ISD public relations officer, said in a statement that a student reported the relationship earlier in the week.

Martinez said the report was a case of one student taking care of another student by alerting the school.

School and district personnel, including human resources and the Edgewood Police Department, took immediate action following the report.
