Convicted child abuser sentenced to life without parole

Bruce Carter, 60, sentenced Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO – A 60-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole following his conviction of continuous sexual abuse of a child and indecency with a child by contact.

The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office said the now 19-year-old victim testifed in a trial that Bruce Carter sexually abused her from the age of 9 to the age of 16, when she reported the abuse.

"I am very proud of the hard work of prosecutors Meredith Chacon and Grant Bryan," said District Attorney Nico LaHood. "This should send a strong message to all predators out there to stay away from children. We will continue to aggressively prosecute individuals that harm children."
