Almost all military dogs are trained in San Antonio. Trainers at the event said volunteers are needed to provide therapy foster homes for the dogs.

"It's a dream job. You couldn't ask for anything else. I grew up with dogs, I've always wanted to do this. I'm very blessed to have this," Cpl. Ethan Hawn said.

The training program lasts between two to seven months. The dogs serve in all branches of the military.

Many law enforcement dogs are also trained at Lackland.
