Massive fire destroys vacant home on Southwest Side

Arson investigating the cause

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters responded Saturday night to a massive fire in a vacant home on the city's Southwest Side.

The fire was reported at 6 p.m. in the 9400 block of Somerset Road, not far from Interstate 35.

Fire officials said the fire took more than an hour to put out, as they had trouble finding water to use at the scene.

The house was destroyed by the flames.

The landlord told KSAT 12 that they've had problems in the past with kids breaking into the house.

At this time it is not known what caused the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
