Boil water notice issued for Hondo

HONDO, Texas – The city of Hondo on Wednesday issued a boil water notice as a precautionary measure.

Low water pressure from a failed water pump prompted the notice, Hondo Public Works Director Eric Salazar said.

Salazar said he hopes pressure returns to normal later Wednesday afternoon or early evening.

Residents and businesses are advised to bring water to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boil it for two minutes.

An alternative to boiling water is to purchase bottled water or use water from another reliable source.

The water pump failure prompted the Hondo Independent School District schools to close at noon Wednesday.
