SAN ANTONIO – Leonard Laque, Jr., is accused of attacking a middle school student who fought with his daughter during a student basketball game.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that Laque was in the stands during the game at Kazen Middle School last Thursday when his daughter and a girl on an opposing team began fighting.
The affidavit stated that a referee and coach intervened and separated the students. However, Laque suddenly ran down from the bleachers and pushed the other girl in her face with both hands, causing her to fall to the ground, the affidavit stated.
Police with the South San Antonio Independent School District were called immediately after the incident. The affidavit stated that they spoke with several witnesses and obtained video of the alleged attack.
When investigators questioned the girl to determine if she had been injured, they said she complained of minor pain.
Laque was arrested Friday on a charge of injury to a child.
