Man killed in West Side shooting; attacker at large

SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after he was shot in the head on the city’s West Side.

The shooting happened near Barclay and Colima streets on Friday night.  

Police said they are still looking for a shooter. They don’t have much information to go on and don’t have any witnesses aside from a woman who heard a shot and then found the victim.

The woman was about a block away when the victim was shot. After she heard the gunfire, she ran to the corner of Colima and Barclay, about a block south of Castroville Road.

The woman found the victim, who is believed to be in his 20s, lying by the curb with a gunshot wound in the head.

The victim was breathing but was not responsive when he was taken to University Hospital in critical condition; he later died.

The witness told police she didn’t see anyone else after she heard the shot.
