Jaime Gomez Jr., 33, facing 3 intoxication assault charges


SAN ANTONIO – A driver was arrested Sunday after he drunkenly struck another vehicle carrying a man and two children, police said.

Jaime Gomez Jr., 33, is charged with three counts of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury, according to online court records. Police said Gomez was traveling eastbound on Hot Wells Boulevard in a black Chrysler 300 when he struck a white Honda Accord.

According to a preliminary report, Gomez was partially traveling on the wrong side of the road when he struck the white car. Police said the driver of the Honda Accord, identified as Jaime Rico, 29, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Rico's two juvenile passengers were also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Gomez was also hospitalized. He is behind bars on combined $65,000 bail, online records show.
