Inmate charged with attacking BCSO detention officer

Teresa Gomez, 46, accused of assaulted deputy on Aug. 12

SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County inmate is now facing more charges after she has been accused of hitting a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office detention officer.

Teresa Gomez, 46, is charged with assault to a public servant causing bodily injury, a third-degree felony.

The attack happened on Aug. 12.

A witness said Gomez sucker punched the Bexar County corporal.

At the time, Gomez had been locked up for almost four weeks on theft and prostitution charges.

According to the arrest affidavit, the female detention officer had told some inmates, including Gomez, to stop talking.

Gomez allegedly shouted at the officer who moved away to de-escalate the situation, the court document said.

That is when Gomez grabbed the officer's hair and pulled her to the ground where she hit her in the face, neck and head, the affidavit said.

Gomez confessed to hitting the officer and told the investigator she was detoxing at that time and had written a grievance about previous incidents with the officer, according to the report.

The officer had bleeding scratches and redness on her face. Gomez was not recorded injuries.
