Hays County man leads deputies on chase through Wimberley, officials say

WIMBERLEY, Texas – Hay County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a vehicle after a traffic violation on Tuesday, but they ended up on a chase through farm to market roads.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle on Old Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley. They were led on a chase through parts of Farm to Market 3237, Farm to Market 150, and Old Ranch Road 12.

According to a statement by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were able to immobilize the suspect’s vehicle and ended the pursuit in the 18000 block of Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley.

When the suspect’s vehicle was stopped, a deputy fired a round from his duty pistol. The sheriff’s office said there were no injuries as a result of the discharge, and the case is under investigation.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Charles Lawrence Howard III, 35.

Howard was arrested and booked in the Hays County Jail. He’s charged with driving while intoxicated, evading arrest with a vehicle, resisting arrest, and reckless driving.
