Driver on the run, 10 people detained after chase ends in Bexar County, deputies say

The chase began in Medina County; driver last seen in field with brush

The chase began around 11:29 a.m. Friday in Medina County on S35 northbound from the county line into Bexar County on IH-35 South and New Laredo Highway. (KSAT)

BEXAR COUNTY – A driver is on the run from authorities and 10 people are detained after a pursuit that started in Medina County ended in Bexar County, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The chase began around 11:29 a.m. on Friday on IH-35 northbound from just over the county line.

Deputies said the driver was traveling in a stolen Ford F-350 pickup truck and was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

The chase came to an end near I-35 and New Laredo Highway when the driver cut through a field in the 9800 block of IH-35 and struck a chain-link fence and the driver ran into a field of brush.

Authorities are still searching for the driver.

Ten people who appeared to have been trafficked were detained and are being evaluated by medical personnel, according to the BCSO.

Once captured, the driver will be charged with evading in a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
