Man, 30, charged in murder of Uber driver on Northeast Side

Dominique Croom was arrested Thursday

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man who they say shot and killed an Uber driver inside his vehicle on the city’s Northeast Side last Thursday.

Dominique Croom, 30, was arrested Thursday on murder and criminal trespass charges.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Croom allegedly shot and killed 37-year-old Robert Diaz just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Gibbs Sprawl Road and Castle Cross Drive.

The affidavit said Diaz was found unresponsive in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.

Police said an investigation revealed Diaz was working as an Uber driver when he was shot and was transporting Croom to another location.

A police report states people in the area heard several gunshots and then saw a person running away from the victim’s vehicle.

After interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence, officers were able to find and arrest Croom.
