SAN ANTONIO โ Two people have been charged with murder in connection with a shooting at a Northwest Side motel that happened on St. Patrickโs Day. San Antonio police arrested Douglas Skaggs, 55, and Hayley Gibbens, 23, on Tuesday morning. An arrest warrant affidavit said that police obtained surveillance video from the motel showing both suspects. After they posted images on social media, police said they received a tip identifying Skaggs as the man in the video. It says he also told police that Gibbens helped him by luring Roman to the motel so that he could confront him.
Woman arrested in January crash that killed couple, injured 4 children
HELOTES, Texas โ A driver involved in a crash in Helotes earlier this year that killed a couple and injured their four children has been arrested on charges related to drunken driving. The arrest Monday of Elena Carranza, who doesnโt turn 21 until August, marks a dramatic shift in the case. At the scene of the January 3 crash, officers told KSAT12 that it appeared to be just an accident. Craig Smith, 54, and his 39-year-old wife, Susan, both were killed in the crash. Although police initially said their injuries were minor, an arrest warrant affidavit now shows one of the children suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Man, 23, charged with capital murder after fatally shooting another man during robbery, police say
Carlos Romero Jr. was booked Thursday for the death of Kelvron Hardrict, 28, on August 16, 2020, according to an arrest affidavit. It says on one occasion, he spent two hours on the lot removing the catalytic converters from more than half a dozen vehicles. Although the crimes happened in December, records show Ramirez was arrested Monday on a charge of theft.
West Side murder victim, suspect had ongoing beef, SAPD says
SAN ANTONIO โ A man who was shot and killed late last year and the man accused of murdering him had an ongoing beef, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. The document was released following the arrest Thursday of Bobby Ray Solis, 36. The affidavit did not specify, though, what led to the November 30 shooting of John Eric Garcia, 35. Police say soon after Garcia left his apartment to meet up with Solis, witnesses heard gunshots. Bobby Ray Solis, 36, is accused of shooting and killing man, SAPD says.
Man kicks in door of motel room, shoots at pair inside, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A man has been arrested after he allegedly kicked in the door of a motel room and fired gunshots at two unsuspecting people inside, San Antonio police said. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Sapp went to the Motel 6 in the 9900 block of I-35 North on Feb. 27 and kicked down the door just before firing several gunshots. The affidavit states that Sappโs girlfriend was in the room with another man and another couple. Police say Sapp shot at the men as he entered the room, but missed. AdOfficers later interviewed the women from the motel and Sappโs girlfriend identified him as the shooter, police said.
Tip leads to arrest of driver allegedly involved in deadly hit-and-run crash
SAN ANTONIO โ A tip has helped San Antonio police catch up with a man who they believe was involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash. An arrest warrant affidavit says an anonymous tipster identified him as the driver involved in the crash Nov. 19 in the 1200 block of Bandera Road. It says at some point after the crash, the tipster called police offering them Rodriguezโs name. However, it says police do not believe the relative knew anything about the deadly crash. Just prior to Rodriguezโs arrest, homicide investigators learned he was planning to leave the country, the affidavit says.
Man facing capital murder in shooting death of 11-year-old girl
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of an eleven year old girl this past summer on the cityโs Northeast side. DโMorea Keys, 22, was taken into custody Thursday night on a charge of capital murder. The affidavit mentions that a second person, an adult, in a different vehicle also was hit by gunfire. They said they had no problems with anyone, and they did not believe the shooting was the result of road rage. It says based on images in the video, police believe there was a second shooter in the car with Keys.

Affidavit: Man caught on camera stealing from more than 50 mail boxes
SAN ANTONIO San Antonio police say theyve caught up with a man who was caught on camera stealing from dozens of mail boxes at a local apartment complex. Juan Santiago Benavides, 50, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of mail theft. An arrest warrant affidavit said police identified Benavides through surveillance video. It says it shows him breaking into two large cluster mail boxes at an apartment complex May 30, then stealing mail from 55 individual mail boxes. The affidavit said he then dumped the mail into a laundry basket and drove off with it.
