Man hit, killed by vehicle while crossing far East Side street, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 50s was hit and killed while crossing a street on the far East Side, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened Monday around 10:40 p.m. in the 5400 block of Rigsby Avenue.

An SAPD preliminary report said witnesses observed the truck moving through a green light just before hitting the man.

EMS officials pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and is not facing charges. The driver was found not to be intoxicated, police said.

Details about where and how the man attempted to cross the street were unclear in SAPD’s report.

SAPD’s investigation is ongoing.
