A San Antonio Police Department sergeant at the scene said a man driving a brown Suburban was “burglarizing a vehicle at a worksite” and was confronted by the vehicle’s owner and another person.

At some point during the altercation, someone fired a shotgun at least once. The sergeant said it struck a vehicle nearby, though it is not clear who shot.

The men chased the driver of the Suburban, and more shots were fired. It is unclear if anyone was struck.

In a preliminary report Wednesday, police said “as the suspects located the male, their vehicles began to collide into one another and shots were fired in attempt to stop the vehicle from moving.”

As the man in the Suburban fled from the scene, he crashed into a white vehicle near the 400 block of New Laredo Highway and West Southcross Boulevard.

The man fled from the crash and has not been found, according to police.

The report states two suspects that spoke to officers were arrested on charges of discharge in municipality.

Officers observed damage to a fence on a nearby property. The sergeant said investigators were expected to speak to witnesses.
