Northwest Side man shot, killed in his apartment by intruders

2 suspects were seen running through parking lot

SAN ANTONIO – A Northwest Side man has been shot and killed in his own home, the apparent victim of a home invasion.

San Antonio police officers found his body inside his apartment, located in the 6200 block of Roxbury Drive, after answering a call about a shooting around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said someone had kicked down the door of that apartment. Witnesses also reported seeing two people running through the parking lot just after the shooting.

Police said a woman was inside the apartment watching television with the victim at the time of the invasion, and that she was forced to watch as the man was killed.

Investigators were still at the scene collecting evidence five hours after the murder. Detectives were seen going door to door, questioning neighbors about the crime.

Several buildings near the entrance gate to the complex appear to have surveillance cameras. However, it was not clear immediately whether they may have captured anything that might help investigators, or if the cameras are working.

The man who was killed is believed to have been in his 20s or 30s. Police did not release his identity right away.
