Her anger had been building since the winter of 2010 when her son was murdered.
On Monday morning, Stephanie Johnson could hold back no longer.
After Vanessa Cameron, 31, was sentenced to 70 years in prison for the murder of Samuel Johnson, 26, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her 6-year-old son, Stephanie Johnson was allowed to confront Cameron in court.
"You are not God. You don't have the right to do this. You are not God!" Johnson shouted.
Cameron was convicted in January for the murder of Johnson who's bullet-riddled beaten body was found in an East side cemetery on Jan. 13, 2010.
Prosecutors say Cameron set the murder in motion in hopes of collecting on a $750,000 insurance policy she had taken out on Johnson the year before.
Two others actually killed Johnson, according to prosecutors.
One is serving a 25-year sentence as part of a plea bargain. The other is awaiting trial.
Cameron's mother also testified during the hearing.
"The family is grieving and mourning and they're angry, I understand that. But she's not the monster that they're making her out to be," said Sylvia Cameron, an SAPD sergeant.
After 379th District Court Judge Ron Rangel sentenced Cameron, Johnson's mother again shouted at Cameron.
"Every time you come up for parole I'll be there. You (are not) getting out!" she said.
Cameron will have to serve half of her 70-year sentence before she is eligible for parole.
