SAN ANTONIO – Two reports given to city leaders outline the possible locations a new downtown Triple-A baseball stadium could be built.

The study also indicated the market viability of a new stadium.

The new facility would cost nearly $75 million. Of the 15 sites in or near the urban core that met the qualifications, five were considered Tier 1.

Locations include:

  • Alamo Street near the Convention Center
  • The athletic fields at Fox Tech High School
  • Irish Flats south of Broadway Street immediately east of downtown
  • The parking lots south of the Alamodome
  • The Institute of Texan Cultures near Hemisfair Park

The study done for Centro San Antonio ranked the Alamo Street location No. 1 and the fields at Fox Tech No. 2.

Funding for the stadium was not included in the city’s 2017 budget approved by the City Council last week. Mayor Ivy Taylor has also said no money from the proposed 2018 bond election will be allocated.
