Burger beef: Two San Antonio restaurants in legal fight over use of โjuicyโ
SAN ANTONIO โ Editorโs note: This story was published through a partnership between the San Antonio Business Journal and KSAT. Longhorn Cafe LLC sent a cease-and-desist letter to local restaurateur Andrew Weissman, owner of Mr. Juicy restaurants, demanding he stop using that name for his growing burger spots. The Longhorn Cafeโs menu touts the โOriginal Big Juicyโ burger. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has โOriginal Big Juicyโ and โHome of the Original Big Juicyโ registered to Longhorn Cafe. Weissman said he has never had a customer or incident where Mr. Juicy was confused with Longhorn Cafeโs Original Big Juicy.
Pearl chef brings consistency, jobs to San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO โ Chef Andrew Weissman didn't always want to become a chef. He would eventually come back to his hometown of San Antonio and then set off to New York to begin his culinary career. His first restaurant Le Reve was a big hit, and he would later open the first full service restaurant at the Pearl, Il Sogno Osteria. Now with several restaurants and over 120 employees, Weissman is looking forward to expanding and bringing in even more employees. One of the main philosophies that he pushes on all his employees and restaurants is consistency.
