Ending a nationwide search, Standridge now only has to undergo a confirmation by the San Marcos City Council on Nov. 4. Standridge was one of two finalists named by city officials in September The other finalist, Robert Brown, currently leads the Duncanville Police Department. “Chief Standridge rose to the top of a very competitive and highly qualified field of applicants,” Lumbreras said. “My wife Beth and I are deeply honored to serve alongside the citizens in San Marcos to foster a culture of inclusion,” Standridge said.

San Marcos to hold meet and greet event for police chief candidates next week

SAN MARCOS, Tx – The City of San Marcos announced Tuesday that it would be holding a meet and greet for the final two police chief candidates on Oct. 14. In late September, city officials whittled down the applicant list from five to the final two candidates: Robert Brown, current chief of police for the city of Duncanville and Stan Standridge, current chief of police in Abilene. The meet-and-greet event will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Conference Center Spring Lake Salon, 1001 East McCarty Lane. According to a press release from the city, masks are required within the hotel and conference center and attendees should maintain social distancing guidelines during the reception event. A final decision and Council confirmation of the chosen candidate will be complete by early November, city officials said.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The City of San Marcos is narrowing its candidate selection for its chief of police position. According to the data collected by the city most respondents, 87.04%, live in the City of San Marcos and the majority of survey respondents, 73.62%, work in San Marcos. Additionally, the data released by the city indicated that 9.21% of all respondents work for The City of San Marcos. Klett has spent 31 years serving the citizens of San Marcos, Texas at the San Marcos Police Department where he currently holds the title of interim police chief.
