As storms with heavy rainfall moved through San Antonio on Thursday morning, a brief tornado was caught on camera near Interstate 35 and Highway 281. It caused morning commuters to come to a full stop along the busy interstate.

A KSAT employee and KSAT Connect users reported seeing the tornado, but thankfully only minor damage is being reported. The radar showed a brief spin-up in the area.
A post sent out on X -- formerly known as Twitter -- from Joint Base San Antonio confirmed a brief, weak tornado touched down on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. No injuries are reported in that area, but some minor damage to trees and vehicles have been observed.
Joint Base San Antonio weather has confirmed a brief, very weak tornado touched down on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston around 8 a.m. this morning. There are no reported injuries, but downed trees and some damage to vehicles have been reported.
While the tornado threat remains low, the KSAT weather team will continue to monitor the radar as the activity shifts east through the remainder of the day. In addition, pockets of heavy rain continue to move through San Antonio, causing some minor flooding.
