KSAT Flavor Favs: Mr. & Mrs. G's

KSAT viewers pick their top spots

SAN ANTONIO – Recently on Facebook we asked our viewers what their favorite hole-in-the-wall or hidden gem restaurant in town was.

One of those spots a lot of you chose is on South WW White and it's called Mr. and Mrs. G's.

The restaurant known for it's soul/comfort food opened 25 years ago.

Originally from Mississippi, Mr & Mrs. G made San Antonio their home after Mr. G was stationed here.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant immediately you experience true southern hospitality.

Food is served in a cafeteria style setting with plenty of delicious options.

Myself and photojournalist Tim Stewart were eager to try the food.

I had fried chicken with collard greens, sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese.

Tim had a pork chop with squash and black eyed peas.

Oh, and I can't forget the corn bread.

The food lived up to the hype and left us in a food coma.

Mrs. G told us she enjoys being in San Antonio and wants to continue being a good restaurant for the neighborhood.
