KSAT Flavor Favs: L&L Hawaiian Grill

Pacific Islander brings Hawaiian cuisine to Alamo City

SAN ANTONIO – L&L Hawaiian Grill at 1302 Austin Highway offers a variety of menu options.

Owner Sarah Yee, a Pacific Islander, knew she had to bring the food she grew up with to the Alamo City.

A few years ago, her family embarked on the journey to bring a little "Aloha" to San Antonio.

As soon as you walk into L&L Hawaiian Grill, you're greeted with a traditional "Aloha" and the smells of some of the islands' most popular comfort foods.

The food is a blend of many different cultures that have settled in Hawaii over the years.

"Even the U.S. military influenced Hawaiian food. They brought a ration of Spam," Yee said. "Today, one of the most popular snacks in Hawaii is the Spam mosubi."

Mosubi is like sushi, but with spam and rice wrapped in seaweed.

Besides the food, you can also enjoy a variety of entertainment and the sense of community the restaurant provides.

L&L is worth the visit and makes you feel like you're enjoying a little bit of paradise.

"You're going to send your taste buds on a tropical adventure," Yee said.
