SAN ANTONIO – "She knows she is going to prison for a long time," said Scott Simpson, the lawyer for Valerie Andrews.
Andrews, 40, plead guilty to felony murder in the deaths of four members of the Jose Perez family.
They were killed on the night of Aug. 8, 2010, at a South side intersection.
Andrews was driving drunk and being pursued by a police officer when she slammed into a van carrying the family, investigators said.
Perez' wife, two daughters and 4-month-old grandson were killed.
"She knows the names of the four people and she remembers the little one's date of birth. She feels horrible about it", Simpson said.
Andrews sobbed throughout the Tuesday morning hearing in Judge Melisa Skinner's 290th District Court.
"It was everything coming out all at once, realizing that she was finally getting this done," Simpson said, referring to the plea bargain to which Andrews agreed.
The plea deal calls for a sentence range of between 40 and 55 years.
Skinner ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and set formal sentencing for Jan. 19.
