Valero CEO to step down Bill Klesse to step down as Valero CEO; Joe Gorder to assume role
San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp. announced Monday that Bill Klesse will step down as CEO effective May 1.
Klesse, 67, was named CEO in 2005 and chairman of the board in 2007. Valero announced he will remain a director and board chairman.
Current president and chief operating officer Joe Gorder, 56, has been selected to take over the role in May.
Gorder was named COO in 2012 and has held several other titles in his 27 years with Valero.
In addition to being named CEO, Gorder has also been elected to the company's board of directors.
