Stone Oak woman faces charges in theft of hair styling tools

Delma Ashton, 47, accused of stealing from Ulta Beauty store

SAN ANTONIO – Stone Oak resident Delma Ashton, 47, is accused of making bad choices in the name of good hair -- stealing more than $500 worth of hair styling tools from a beauty supply store.

An arrest affidavit stated that Ashton was in the hair salon section of an Ulta Beauty store on April 1 when surveillance cameras captured her taking several hair styling tools, a blow dryer and two flat irons from the store's shelves.

The affidavit stated that an attendant had left her alone in the salon chair for a few minutes.

San Antonio police believe that's when Ashton removed the tools from their boxes and placed them into her purse.

Later, she left the store without paying for them, the affidavit stated.

Employees didn't notice the empty boxes until some time later.

The affidavit stated that workers showed surveillance video to investigators, identifying Ashton as the person who stole the styling tools.

Police said workers told them Ashton is a rewards member, or regular customer of the business, so they had her name and other information on file already.

Ashton was arrested Tuesday on a theft charge.
