Body of woman found on SE Side street identified

Victim identified as Annabelle Rojas, 33

SAN ANTONIO – A woman found dead on a Southeast Side street appears to have suffered head trauma, San Antonio police said Wednesday.

A passerby found the body of Annabelle Rojas just after 1:30 a.m. on a neighborhood street just off Rigsby Avenue, at the corner of Keasler Avenue and Christian Drive.

Police said the woman was lying in a pool of blood and had injuries to her face and head.

They said because Rojas, 33, had a lot of hair, it was unclear right away whether she may have suffered a gunshot wound. Police said it's also possible she was beaten or had been hit by a car.

Detectives have been knocking on doors in the neighborhood, trying to determine whether anyone might have seen anything. Crime scene investigators spent several hours collecting evidence at the scene.

Police said they are also trying to determine whether Rojas may have been involved in an earlier incident. They said they received several calls about a suspicious person at a location about a mile from the scene, and that they were given a description a woman who matched Rojas' description.

Investigators said they hope to obtain surveillance video from that other location to determine whether it is in fact the same person.
