Man facing charges in robbery of local pizza restaurant

Carlos Romero, Jr., identified as getaway driver, report says

CONVERSE – A Converse man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of a pizza restaurant back in April.

Carlos Romero, Jr., 19,  was identified by a witness as the getaway driver in the crime as well as one of the three people who robbed the business.

An arrest warrant affidavit said that Romero and two other people robbed workers at Little Caesar's Pizza on Kitty Hawk Road April 9.

Someone who was at a nearby business at the time followed the robbery suspects as they left the restaurant, then called police telling them where they were, the affidavit said.

Officers were able to chase one suspect and take him into custody right away.

The affidavit said the witness who followed the suspects later picked out Romero in a photo lineup.

Based on the date of his mug shot, it appears Romero was taken into custody about a week after the robbery for some unknown reason. The charge related to the robbery was filed against him Thursday.
