Man elbows SA police officer in the face, SAPD says

Nicholas Aranda accused of threatening bar owner

SAN ANTONIO – A 27-year-old man assaulted a San Antonio police officer by elbowing him in the face, police said.

Police said the officer was answering a call around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Bottom Bracket bar at North Colorado and West Laurel streets, when he was attacked by the man, identified as Nicholas Aranda.

Aranda was threatening the bar owner prior to the assault, police said.

The officer suffered cuts to his nose and forehead and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Aranda was arrested and charged with assault of a public servant and evading arrest.

He was being held in the Bexar County Jail on $16,600 bail.
