Massive flames engulf abandoned home on South Side

SAN ANTONIO – An abandoned home was destroyed by a massive fire early Thursday morning, San Antonio firefighters said.

The fire was called in around 4 a.m. in the 3700 block of Commercial Avenue, not far from Gillette Boulevard on the city’s South Side.

Firefighters said they arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. They say the structure is a total loss.

Fire officials said no one was inside the home at the time of the fire and that no firefighters were injured.

Arson has been called to investigate the cause of the fire.
