Mr. Clean’s Clean Freak spray is the best choice for mealtime messes, according to the nonprofit’s lab testers.
If you need to go generic for even more savings, CR recommends Walmart’s Great Value Cleaner, especially for cleaning glass.
“Buying cleaning products can get so expensive,” CR said. The key is knowing which products give you the most value for your money.
If you need a glass cleaner that’s also great for chrome, tile and porcelain, try Sprayway’s foam glass cleaner.
If your preferred way to clean is using paper towels, Bounty Select-A-Size has good scrubbing strength, CR said.
“You don’t have to waste more paper towels than you need to, and you’re saving money.”
Here are a few more products to keep in mind:
- Skrubby Sponge - works for gentle and tough scrubbing jobs
- Method’s All-Purpose Wipes - quick cleanup jobs
- Target’s store-brand disinfecting wipes - work for sanitizing surfaces on a budget
- Mop & Glo 3-in-1 - works for hardwood, ceramic and laminate flooring, especially when removing scuffs
Another way to save is by buying products sold as refills, CR said. This is because they are often sold for less per ounce than spray bottles.
It’s also a way to reduce plastic waste.
